Recorded against the matter, either way. Every run carries the matter it belongs to, so you can export a per-matter record of exactly what you were charged and recharge it to your client at cost, in the form your billing system expects.
This is the part of a bespoke build that normally costs you a six-week risk assessment. Because your tool runs on the shared Nimble platform, the answers below are already settled and already in use.
A worked example of the shape. This is the kind of job that earns a bespoke build, rather than a tool you could pick off a shelf.
The job. A commercial team held several hundred client contracts across shared drives and old matter files. The break dates, notice windows and auto-renewal clauses sat inside the documents and nowhere else. Missing a notice window meant a client tied in for another year, and the first anyone knew of it was the renewal invoice.
The tool. Drop in a folder of contracts. Each one comes back with its term, renewal basis, notice window and break date pulled out and cited to the clause it came from, and the whole set lands as a dated register the team can actually work from.
Why it had to be bespoke. Nothing off the shelf knew the firm's own templates or the way it records key dates. The extraction had to follow their house definitions, and the register had to drop straight into the diary system they already use.
